Springfield ban threat for 'disgraceful' Muratti fans

BANS are being threatened against 'disgraceful' football fans who are identified as being behind trouble at this year's Muratti Vase Final as tensions boiled over on Saturday.

Dozens of fans were thrown out of Springfield Stadium, police cordons set up in St Helier and extra officers drafted in.

Jersey Football Association chief executive Neville Davidson labelled the supporters a 'menace to society' and vowed to ban them from the island's stadium if they were identified.

Yesterday, his Guernsey counterpart Gary Roberts said it would certainly consider taking the same stance in Guernsey against people if it knew they were involved.
