Harbour facilities slammed in survey

FERRY passengers have slammed facilities at St Peter Port Harbour, saying wi-fi connectivity as well as refreshment and retail facilities all need to be improved.

More than 500 ferry passengers, 95% of whom were from the island, took part in a Guernsey Harbours survey which saw criticism directed at the facilities at the terminal building and the vehicle compound.

Half of the respondents reported they spent no money, even though most were at the harbour for at least an hour.

A total of 45% of respondents said they normally spent between £1 and £20, but the majority spent more than that amount on board.

Many indicated they would spend more while using the port if facilities were improved.

Although some travellers suggested the terminal building was fit for purpose, many said it was outdated, with inadequate facilities and in need of improvement.

Similarly, some users considered the vehicle compound acceptable, but more had critical comments.

It was likened by some to a holding pen with no facilities.
