Foulon baby memorial plaque families warned about changes

A STILLBIRTH and neonatal death charity is appealing to anybody with an existing infant memorial garden plaque at Le Foulon Cemetery to make contact with it since work to refurbish the site is about to get under way.

Guernsey Sands, which supports those affected by the death of a baby, outlined its plans last year to renew its baby memorial garden at the cemetery.

The area, and the original plaques themselves, fell into disrepair and the charity has been preparing for the refurbishment with the aim of creating a calm and peaceful environment that 'truly does justice to those remembered there' and will be accessible all year round.

The work is due to start in the next few weeks and will involve levelling the grassed area of the current site, creating new hard surfaced pathways and removing the existing plaques and replacing them with new ones mounted on a new centrepiece memorial.
