Drug supplier showed Ecstasy to off-duty police officer

AFTER unsuspectingly holding an Ecstasy pill up towards an off-duty police officer in a Town bar, Jonathan Marsh was arrested and found to have more tablets in his underwear, the Royal Court heard.

Prosecuting advocate Rory Calderwood said a police station strip search revealed pinky-orange tablets containing MDMA in a bank change bag. They had a street value of up to £530.

Marsh, who pleaded guilty to possession of the class A drug with intent to supply, was jailed for four years and six months.

Advocate Rachel Eeles, defending, said Marsh had bought 30 tablets, had taken two-and-a-half and given one to a friend at cost price.

But he denied trying to offer a tablet to the officer when he was at the bar.

Advocate Eeles said while Marsh could see how it was logical for the police officer to think he was being offered the tablet, his actions had been misinterpreted.
