From Monday their wardrobes will be restricted to plain white sports gear, but for the party the British number two wowed in a £300 dark green latex dress by designer Brett Mettler.

The 24-year-old, who also carried a matching umbrella and finished her outfit with a pair of white heels, took along fellow lifelong friend and Pop-Up Fitness founder Olivia Cooney.

Despite two disappointingly early exits over the past fortnight at Nottingham and Birmingham, Miss Watson has remained positive as the countdown to Wimbledon begins.

Speaking earlier this week to the Guernsey Press, she said she felt like she was striking the ball really well and there were just a few tweaks to be made before going into Wimbledon.

It will be her sixth Wimbledon and last year she managed to defeat the world No. 32 Caroline Garcia and Daniela Hantuchova on her way to a third-round meeting with Serena Williams in what proved to be the stand-out match of the entire tournament.

Miss Watson came within two points of victory against the world number one. She said she took a lot of confidence from it because she had match point against her in the first round and came through it.

The two could meet again in the second round this year.
