A PENSIONER was woken at 2am to find a drunken, naked man cooking breakfast in his kitchen, the Royal Court heard.

The intruder had smashed a double-glazed window, and three glass panels in an internal door while gaining entry.

Broken bottles were strewn around the utility room and he had taken a shower in the house – drying himself with the home owner's towels.

But Luke Edmondson, 21, from Liverpool, was cleared on charges of burglary in the Royal Court yesterday.

He admitted, however, causing criminal damage but denied he had done so with intent, saying his actions had been reckless due to the amount he had had to drink.

He was sentenced to six months in prison for that offence, backdated to the day of his arrest in February.

Allowing for remission, he was due to be released from prison yesterday.
