The 58-year-old has not been seen since midday on Monday, at Pleinmont car park.

Extensive searches, involving the use of thermal- imaging cameras, the Channel Islands Air Search and a drone, have all failed to find him.

A detailed search of Pleinmont headland and shoreline is being carried out and will continue today, as will house-to-house enquiries in the area

Police have released further information about Mr Corbet's disappearance, and confirmed they had come into contact with him the night before.

Mr Corbet is described as 6ft-tall, of large build with receding short, brown hair. He has had a number of knee operations and as a result walks with a pronounced limp. Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 719474.

Mr Corbet's name has been spelt Stephen in previous statements and his age given as 59. But Guernsey Police have now confirmed the spelling as Steven and that he is aged 58.
