Duncan Barrett, a historical author and editor, previously had a three-book deal with Harper Collins, and his new title has already been commissioned by renowned publishing house Simon & Schuster.

Mr Barrett said he is spending the next two months in Guernsey, and is hoping to get in contact with people who lived through the islands's Occupation.

'The book will be based on interviews,' he said.

'I've contacted a few residential homes already and this is the first one I've come to.

'I am hoping to speak to people who were children during the war, but also those who were a little older, to get their accounts and hear what they lived through.'

Anyone wanting to contact Mr Barrett to share their experiences can email him on duncan_barrett@hotmail.com.
