Good times at The Gathering

GREAT atmosphere and great music was the verdict from thousands of revellers who descended on The Gathering over the weekend, to see the very best of the island's music scene.

More than 90 acts entertained the crowds over three days at the island's newest festival, as hundreds of music fans occupied North Field each day and groups of people camped over the weekend to make the most of the music and weekend sun.

One of the organisers, co-director of Cage and Stage Promotions, Shane Rosamond, said they had attracted around 600 on the opening night, but the numbers had increased to around 1,000 the following day and similar numbers were expected as the festival closed yesterday.

He said they had been walking the lanes at the end of each night to try to clear any mess left behind.

'The feedback has been really good,' he said.

'Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.'

Nick Evans, 46, had camped over the weekend and was at the festival with his daughter Beth on the Saturday.

'It's been brilliant, really good fun,' he said. 'The atmosphere here is great.'
