Guernsey link to ITV 'perfect murder' series
A MURDER case sparked by a faked death from a yacht off Guernsey will be at the centre of a fresh examination on TV tonight.
The Investigator: A British Crime Story, which airs on ITV at 9pm, centres on the conviction of Russell Causley for murdering his wife Veronica – known as Carole – Packham more than 30 years ago.
Her body has never been discovered.
The show, hosted by former police officer Mark Williams-Thomas, follows the story over four episodes.
Part two is tonight.
Daughter Sam Gillingham has made repeated appeals to find out what happened to the body. 'People have said to me, "OK, forget it. Just leave it. It's 30 years now." And you just think to yourself, "If it was your mother, would you leave it?"' she said.
The investigation will explore the possibility that Carole fled the country in search of a new life.
Mr Williams-Thomas travelled to Guernsey as part of the investigation.
