Save Our Lane petition over storage yards plan

A PETITION has been started by Epinelle Lane residents to try and prevent a vinery being converted into storage yards.

One of them, Colin Paver, 79, has adorned his house with a giant flag outlining his objections to the development, which he said would lead to a near constant rumble of lorries through the narrow lane.

'The lane is 7ft 6in. wide, and the lorries are 7ft 3in wide,' he said.

'All the children from St Sampson's High use this lane, walking, cycling or even skateboarding in both directions.

'This is a one-way lane and we have had some very near misses.

'The application is to convert it into five storage areas. If it is granted it will ruin the whole area.

'Who wants an industrial yard outside their house? There will be lorries running seven days a week, what is it going to do to the value of our house? Those lorries will be running in and out of the yard constantly.'
