Brian and Alison Davey, who host and perform the show, have been coming over to Guernsey for the past 20 years and are an ever-present fixture of the Town Carnival.

Mr Davey said it was the enthusiasm of the audience that brought the show to life.

'The audience brings so much into it,' he said.

'It is the imagination of children that brings Punch & Judy to life, and there is no limit to a child's imagination.'

He said the puppets were a traditional art form and had an enduring appeal.
