'Major milestone' for £30m. Longue Hougue waste facility

UNANIMOUS approval was given yesterday to the plans for a £30m. waste management facility at Longue Hougue.

No objections to the development were raised at an open planning meeting.

States head of corporate services Richard Evans described it as a 'major milestone' in the waste strategy – which is based around high recycling rates and exporting what remains – and came the day after funding for kerbside collections was secured until the end of 2017.

The business case still has to be submitted and approved before work can begin.

This is expected to go to Policy & Resources in the third quarter of this year.
