Gill Hitchings was born in Guernsey, but now lives in Wiltshire with her husband Rob. Each year they come camping in Guernsey, along with daughters Clemency, 23, and Felicity, 18.

But this year their holiday got off to a bad start. They arrived last Wednesday afternoon and immediately went to Cobo for a swim.

Mrs Hitchings took off her wedding, engagement and eternity rings and put them in a special purse while she went swimming.

When she got back to the car, she put them back on again. But that is the last time she remembers seeing them.

  • All three rings are made of gold. The wedding ring is a simple band, the engagement ring has a single diamond and the eternity ring has four sapphires and three diamonds.
