'We are drowning in housing'

ST SAMPSON'S is 'drowning in houses', its senior constable has said, as the Island Development Plan paves the way for more homes to be built there.

A campaign to have the area around Delancey designated as a conservation area failed to sway the professional planners.

'The infrastructure just cannot take it. The roads are just wide enough for one car, they are not capable of taking any more,' said Rob Broome.

'St Sampson's is drowning in development, we have seen in the Salt Pans one house be knocked down and three more built.

'Another was knocked down and a bunch of apartments built – it is just absolutely crazy, it really, really is.

With Leale's Yard adding yet more potential housing in the mix, 'every parcel of land' was facing being built on, he added.
