Toward the end of July it was announced that Guernsey had lost a high court battle over the UK's decision to ban local fishermen from EU waters.

A new reciprocal licensing and fisheries management agreement now needs to be negotiated. The previous one had been suspended by the UK Department for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs and the Marine Management Organisation.

Following Policy & Resources' consultation with local fishermen, along with Alderney and Sark authorities, it was decided appealing was not in their best interests.
