Shane Connolly, 30, had been arrested on Thursday for failing to answer police bail for another offence.

The court heard how, at the police station, Mr Connolly, of Maison St Helens, St Andrew's Road, St Andrew's, had failed to engage with force medical examiner Dr Mark Downing.

Dr Downing concluded from his observations that Mr Connolly was at high risk of self harm, should not be allowed to fly for public safety reasons, and should not be bailed.

Advocate Candy Fletcher said her client had been in Guernsey since November 2015 and he flew between Guernsey, Jersey and Southampton.

Mr Connolly was remanded in custody to 9.30am on Tuesday. He is charged with dangerous driving at Rue a L'Eau, Castel, and together with another, committing an act that was intended to pervert the course of justice, and failing to surrender to police custody.

? At his next appearance in court the following week, Mr Connolly was released from custody after his employer put up a £10,000 surety and the court had heard from an expert witness.

At a subsequent hearing in September, he pleaded guilty to all the charges. He has yet to appear for sentencing.
