A further tide alert is in place locally for the west coast this morning.

In Jersey, a swimmer who died after getting into difficulty off Green Island on Saturday evening was named yesterday as 31-year-old Joy Godfray.

Ms Godfray, who would have celebrated her 32nd birthday yesterday, was pulled from the sea in rough conditions following a major search involving the Fire and Rescue Service and RNLI.

It was also reported that the rough conditions were feared to be behind the deaths of three men, a woman and a young boy in Cornwall, Aberdeen, Dorset and Essex.

A man was rescued from the sea by a member of the public during the same incident.

A tide alert, where wind and wave conditions combined with high tides means debris can be expected on the coast roads, has been issued for 9.04am today, because of a 9.3m tide and predicted south-west force 4-6 winds.

The west coast saw rough conditions over the weekend. A tide alert was issued yesterday morning for a 9.5m tide, combined with westerly force 6-7 winds.
