Tributes paid to Australia backpacker 'hero' who worked in Herm

TRIBUTES have flooded in locally for Thomas Jackson, who died after trying to save a fellow backpacker as she was stabbed at a hostel in Australia.

The 30-year-old, who was attacked in Queensland, worked at the White House Hotel in Herm in the 2012 and 2013 season.

He was stabbed as he tried to save Mia Ayliffe-Chung's life and died in hospital.

Herm chief executive officer Jonathan Watson said that Mr Jackson was a 'fun loving chap' who made many friends in the island and a fantastic person to have as a seasonal member of staff.
