The gift shop, in the Lower Pollet, has been owned and run by husband and wife Bill and Sharon Garnham since 1999.

Garnhams will open for the last time on Friday 30 September and Mr Garnham said it felt like the right time for them to step down.

'It was the end of our lease and there are things we want to do while we have the chance,' he said. 'We would like to travel.'

Mrs Garnham added: 'We want to enjoy life as you never know what is around the corner.'

Mr Garnham said they would retire with plenty of good experiences and anecdotes from their time in the retail industry.

'We have some good memories and have had some laughs over the years – and we have met a lot of people,' he said.
