Wendy Wilson has joined the school temporarily following the retirement of Jo Madin while recruitment takes place.

Ms Wilson, who worked with head teacher Martin Winward in the Falkland Islands, was head of English at her school in Leeds and worked in teacher-led development.

She is quickly getting to grips with the strengths and challenges of St Anne's.

'I'm delighted to join the team. At my previous school I worked on a rapid attainment programme to help improve school results, pupil aspirations, and teaching and learning.

'I think some of the students tend to lack confidence in their abilities, so raising those aspirations has got to be key. I'm looking forward to working with the English department and introducing some of the measures I've worked with in the past. I'm getting to know the students better and helping to work with the team as a whole to achieve the changes that are necessary.'
