Weymouth rules out Condor return

SENIOR figures in Weymouth have ruled out Condor's return and are instead investigating building a new leisure complex.

Condor pulled out of running the route in 2015, after taking delivery of its flagship Liberation, which at 102 metres in length is too big for the harbour berth – it now runs to Poole, a decision that cost the Weymouth economy £750,000 a year.

The ferry operator has since faced repeated calls to return.

Weymouth councillors had been hoping to lure High Speed Ferries to the area and run a link to Cherbourg – however these talks have been described as 'fruitless'.
