Alderney's biennial twinning weekend was this year combined with a cultural exchange, which came hard on the heels of a trip by Alderney singers and musicians to Omonville earlier this year.

More than 30 households hosted French visitors and the rest stayed at the campsite, with the Alderney train providing shuttle services to and from Braye.

Events included a contemporary dance workshop, an exhilarating joint performance by the Alderney Voices and the Chorale aux Quatre Vents at St Anne's Church on Saturday, an art contest and a barbecue at the Island Hall on Saturday night.

The weekend culminated in a performance by the Alderney Island Band and the Cotentin Orchestra on Sunday afternoon, supported by the Alderney Voices and the ArkAnso, the French team of contemporary dancers. The French brought four bands to Alderney and the Blind Drivers from Jersey came over too.

Hosts and guests came together for a lunch at St Anne's School on the Sunday.
