Policy & Resources has welcomed the inquiry, announced by the House of Commons Justice Committee, which will scrutinise the actions of the UK Government in addressing the matter.

Its chairman, Bob Neill, has invited Policy & Resources president Deputy Gavin St Pier to provide evidence for the inquiry, which is entitled Implications of Brexit for the Crown Dependencies, and is asking for responses to three key questions.

This includes how effectively the UK Government, particularly the Ministry of Justice, has engaged with the Crown Dependencies over the UK leaving the EU.

A P&R spokesperson said that it would be providing a submission.

'The committee welcomes the inquiry launched by the House of Commons Justice Committee on the implications of Brexit for the Crown Dependencies.

'The inquiry relates to the scrutiny of the UK Government's role in managing the relationship with the Crown Dependencies.

'The committee is currently preparing a submission, based on the approach agreed by the States on 29 June 2016, in order to provide evidence to this inquiry.

'The submission will be published in due course in accordance with the UK Parliament's guidance on submitting evidence to select committees.'

The committee is particularly keen to hear from residents, officials and experts living in the islands.

The deadline for submissions is Friday 18 November.
