Lottery to help gambling addicts

UP TO £15,000 of funding has been pledged towards developing support for gambling addicts.

The States' Trading Supervisory Board said the money would come from the Channel Islands lottery income for this year.

It comes as the 2015 lottery report and accounts revealed sales of scratch cards in Guernsey had soared from less than £1m. to nearly £8m. over the last four years.

Businesses and gamblers yesterday warned scratch card addiction was a reality facing many islanders.
