In its annual report, the company said it would continue to give financial support to charitable organisations, to liaise with neighbours and work to reduce the environmental impact on the island.

'Guernsey Electricity has a unique place in island life and that's something we very much appreciate,' said chief executive officer Alan Bates.

'We want to be a responsible member of Guernsey's community which is why we continue to focus on what impact we have.

'That impact is not just what help we can give to charities and voluntary organisations but also what we do to reduce the environmental effect of providing electricity.'
