Staff were informed at a meeting on Tuesday that they were being made redundant, with two months' notice given to the 12 employees affected.

Island Construction's final day of trading will be 31 January.

Chairman of the Construction Industry Forum Eric Legg said it was disappointing to hear of the closure of a long-running firm.

Mr Legg said the lack of consistent workflow for local construction was taking its toll across the industry, with no immediate signs of improvement in the coming year.
