La Vallette's pool repair going swimmingly

FIXING leaks and sealing holes in the structure of the Ladies' Pool at La Vallette were among the tasks undertaken by an independent group of volunteers on Saturday.

A 30-strong team of volunteers, who started making periodic repairs to the pool in 2015, spent the morning and early afternoon at the Bathing Pools.

Coordinators Brian Chapman and Vanessa Marsh helped to organise the restoration work.

Mr Chapman said they had launched the refurbishment project a couple of years ago as the Ladies' Pool and changing rooms were falling into disrepair.

'We decided to start this because the pool was leaking tremendously, while the changing rooms were done up around 18 months ago by AFM at their own expense,' he said.

'We got a bunch of people together from Guernsey Water Polo, Guernsey Swimming Club, Donkey Divers and some swimmers.

'We have been down here four times so far to clear and tidy the pool at no expense to the States whatsoever.'
