La Creperie to close its doors after 15 years

ONE of Town's staple eateries is closing its doors, leaving both loyal customers and the owners devastated.

La Creperie was taken over by Carlos Milho and his wife Maria, originally from Madeira, at the start of the millennium, after the previous owner showed him how to run the business.

Mr Milho hoped he would be able to follow in his predecessor's footsteps, and train someone else to run the restaurant before he planned to finish at the end of 2017.

However, when his longterm lease ended in December, and he applied for a one-year extension, he never received a reply from the landlord.

Mr Milho then found, upon returning home from a holiday, that the landlord had decided to move on. They had not extended the lease and had asked them to leave, before he was able to pass on the business.

It was such a surprise, he said, that they had already stocked up on ingredients for the next six months.
