Islanders will see an increased presence of uniformed officers at the ports in the coming days.

Guernsey Law Enforcement said it was not a response to any specific threat, but rather about reassuring the public.

'As an island, we must remain vigilant and not assume that we are immune from this threat.

'As such, we have this morning reviewed our security measures for various scenarios. Our response to the current level of threat will be regularly kept under review.'

It comes as Prime Minister Theresa May made a statement in the House of Commons.

She said the security level to the UK remained 'severe'.

Mrs May confirmed the Westminster attacker was born in Britain.

Any islanders in Westminster yesterday, who may have information relevant to the Metropolitan Police's investigation, are encouraged to contact 0800 789 321.
