Deputy to speak at parlimentary conference on national security

DEPUTY Rob Prow has been invited to chair and speak at a session in a major international Parliamentary Conference on National Security in London.

Guernsey will join up to 40 other parliamentary delegations from across the world to build on their expertise surrounding defence and security strategies aimed at protecting people from the growing threats of terrorism and cybercrime.

Several items are on the agenda set to be explored are issues including peacekeeping and international intervention, whether parliaments should have war powers and cybersecurity.

The conference will be hosted by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK Branch, on behalf of the UK Parliament.

It will bring together over 90 international parliamentarians to improve their national security and cybersecurity capabilities.

'I am looking forward to taking part in this important international conference to share experience and good practice with parliamentarians from other nations,' Deputy Prow said.

'National security is an important issue for Guernsey and for countries across the globe. Together, we can take a proactive role in looking at ways to strengthen national security processes.'
