Gents' Pool next stage in restorations at La Vallette
TRANSFORMING the 'scrapyard' Gents' Pool into its former self with new railings, repaired walls and new diving boards is going to be the next step for La Vallette Legacy Team.
Work done by stonemasons from MS Engineering and Chris Machon is nearing a close completion on the Horseshoe Pool, next to the Gents' Pool.
The Ladies' Pool changing room has already been restored.
The chairman of La Vallette Legacy Team, Pat Johnson, said it was important to preserve the heritage of St Peter Port and to continue returning La Vallette to its former glory.
'There has been a policy of managing decline over many years – that is not good enough,' he said.
'It is so important not to let down all those hundreds of volunteers who turned out to help us at the start and it's just as important to do something about the scrapyard in Havelet Bay that's sending out all the wrong messages.'
