Changes to the utility's postal rates will come into force from Tuesday 2 May 2017, with the cost of a Bailiwick stamp and a letter to the UK set to increase by 1p and 2p respectively.

First weight step postage rates will also go up for things such as small parcels to the Bailiwick (by 1p to £1.01) and to the UK (by 11p to £2.85).

Guernsey Post chief executive Boley Smillie said increased costs in areas such as international handling of post had made it necessary to raise the overall tariff.
