TOBYN HORTON and James McLaughlin will be on the start line alongside Mark Cavendish in Sunday's national road race in Yorkshire.

The two Guernsey stars face a 113.7-mile slog through scenic Yorkshire countryside but, for Horton at least, it promises to be a tough day in the saddle after weeks concentrating on criterium racing in the televised Tour Series with the Team Raleigh squad.

Horton heads to Ampleforth for the race playing down his prospects after another tiring evening helping a Raleigh colleague in the national criterium race on Wednesday evening in Otley, also in the White Rose county.

The Island Games champion did not get a look in at the front, having finished the event spent after doing a lot of leg work for the team's top prospect, Graham Briggs, who was fifth.
