Machlowski loses a one man battle

THE season had obviously come too early for Rangers who were saved from a double-figure thrashing by their new Polish keeper in the stifling sun at the Track on Saturday afternoon.

Jacob Machlowski was superb throughout for the visitors, who were well below strength against a keen and eager Bels side lacking only striker Wayne Bishop from their likely first choice lineup when the league season starts next month.

That Machlowski was so good came as no surprise to the Bels contingent.

He had spent several weeks training with them last autumn.
