THIS week's Horse of the Year Show is hosting an Olympic visitor in the shape of experienced judge and course builder Jon Doney.

The 63-year-old Englishman is renowned in equestrian circles after more than 40 years of being involved in the sport, officiating at several top-level events, including World and European Championships.

He is the only top-level qualified person in the world at both judging and course building, with the latter skill putting him in a position to advise British Showjumping.

But it was earlier this month that he was one of four judges for the showjumping and eventing at London 2012, the second Games that he has been involved in after Seoul 1988.

As Doney explained, it was an incredible experience that is unlikely to be repeated.
