BELS struck the first significant blow of this year's FNB Priaulx League title race after emphatically beating reigning champions North 3-0 away from home last night.

Simon Marley's brace and Craig Young's strike, all before-half-time, sent Bels six points clear at the top of the early league table, albeit having played a game more.

Both coaches agreed it was a fair result, with Bels boss Glyn Smith delighted with his side's performance.

'We told the lads to go out there, get in North's faces and play attacking football,' he said.
