TIM LAINE gained valuable experience ahead of the 2013 NatWest Island Games when he represented Great Britain in the Kona Windsurfing World Championships.

The Guernseyman finished 42nd overall out of the 71 registered participants from 18 countries in the five-day event held at Maspalomas in Gran Canaria.

The Kona class has been chosen by host island Bermuda for the windsurfing competition at next summer's Island Games.

'This event was great experience to sail with the top Kona sailors in the world, to pick-up extra knowledge and experience so I will be better prepared for the Island Games next year,' Laine said.
