Reporter’s highlight of 2012: Matt Lihou recalls a historic weekend in Guernsey football...

WHAT a weekend.

Three simple words that best describe a 72-hour period at the beginning of May which was a joy to behold for any Guernsey football fan.

Being among that following, I feel incredibly privileged to have had a first-hand chance to have witnessed a double success unparalleled with anything that had gone before.

If you include the debut season league title Guernsey FC had already secured, then the cup and Muratti Vase successes completed a treble, but it is the second of those three successes where my highlight lies.

Having followed the Green Lions nearly every step of the way over the last 18 months, it has certainly been a rollercoaster ride at times, but with plenty of notable highs.
