GUERNSEY FC have attempted to do their bit for a CCL rival in trouble after offering Colliers Wood United the chance to switch their match to Footes Lane this month.

However, because of a lack of player availability at relatively short notice, Colliers Wood declined the offer for the game on Wednesday 23 January to be moved here and it will now take place in the UK as planned.

The idea, mooted by GFC secretary Mark Le Tissier, was for Colliers Wood to give up home advantage but keep all profits made at Footes Lane, which could have been around £2,000 if it had attracted 1,000 fans.

Because of problems with the newly-fitted drainage, soil grass and root system, Colliers Wood’s ground at Wibbandune has been deemed unsafe and they now need to raise money urgently for repairs.
