A CLINICAL second-half performance saw Vale Rec maintain their pressure on Bels at the top of the Priaulx League and prove they are up for the duration of this intriguing title battle.

Goals from the excellent Rob Wakeham and Sean Mills gave the home side their ninth win in 10 games and closed the gap to eight points, having also played four games fewer than the league leaders.

With wins against Bels, North and now two against Saints, they are arguably the joint-favourites to lift the Priaulx Cup along with Bels as their relentless march continued on a bitterly cold night at the Corbet Field.

But the two teams did make it worth venturing outside, as some excellent football was played from both sides, albeit without a glut of clear-cut openings in the first 45 minutes.
