AN INTRIGUING season in top flight hockey is heading ever closer to a grand finale.

The title contenders all picked up victories on Saturday, albeit with differing degrees of difficulty, which means it is as you were at the top of Men's Division One.

Due to the scheduling, it was leaders ABN Amro (Indies) who took to the Footes Lane pitch in the final game of the day under pressure having seen both Colombians and Casuals pick up maximum points.

They were also missing star man Adam Kitching, so the potential of an upset against an Unwantables side who had island regular Ady Peacegood leading by example was definitely there.

However, Indies showed no signs of anxiety as they settled quickly and within three minutes Josh Kendal, pictured, had hit a post while on 10min. a neat move from back to front presented Rupert Iles with a chance, but his shot from an acute angle was saved by Rob Turville.
