MILES MUNRO has claimed double gold at the ASA Zonal Championships.

The 16-year-old freestyle specialist won both the 50m and 200m in his favoured stroke at the K2 Crawley in the event that brings together swimmers from the South West, South East and London regions.

In the shorter distance, Munro snatched victory from John Slater of Basingstoke by five-hundredths of a second to record a long course time of 23.88sec.

Slater gained revenge in the 100m, touching out the Beau Sejour Barracuda by just two-hundredths of a second to take gold with a time of 54.02.

However, Munro went on to achieve further success in the 200m, pulling out all the stops to place ahead of Fred Biggs of Sevenoaks to take gold in a time of 1-58.86.

The Sarnian also took silver in the final of the 50m butterfly with a personal best time of 26.40.
