MARTYN DESPERQUES defied unfamiliar surroundings to pocket his second century break of the season – and rescue his Island Championship hopes in the process.

The six-time and defending island champion was 1-0 down to Roscoe Cloarec in the quarter-final encounter at the West Legion and trailing in the second, in the best-of-five match.

But after a string of fine breaks, he took control and rounded it off in style by completing a 107 clearance to secure a 3-1 victory and set up a semi-final with Glenn Le Prevost.

As Desperques, pictured, explained, it needed great powers of concentration.
