Rangers 4, Vale Rec 1

RANGERS have threatened to turn over a top side for a while and this thoroughly merited three points, on the wide expanses of the College Field, will have been toasted by Belgraves everywhere.

Title-chasing Vale Rec deserved nothing and got nothing, failing to overcome the organisation and energy of the home side who when under pressure had their Polish keeper Jacob Machlowski as a reliable safety-net.

To complete Rec's miserable day they had young sub Keanu Marsh shown a straight red in stoppage time for a high tackle.

Carl Le Tissier, the Vale coach, pulled no punches.

'There's no way we will win the league playing like that,' he admitted.

'We got what we deserved – we were woeful.'
