IF THE opening day of the first show of the season is anything to go by, BS Guernsey are in for a busy summer.

Despite the bitterly cold day at Chemin Le Roi, entry numbers in the senior classes in particular were remarkably good, with those nine classes taking in excess of six hours to complete.

School trips meant the junior entries were not as high as they are likely to be throughout the summer, but there were still exciting classes with the ponies racing around the all-weather arena as combinations looked to gain an edge on the competition.

'In an ideal world, all the shows would be in the show field and we hoped we would be able to be in there this weekend, but because of the weather we have had recently, we used the all-weather,' said BS Guernsey vice-chairwoman Sarah Mills.
