PROMOTION is now far from assured for Guernsey FC after a mixed CCL Premier Division weekend saw them effectively lose further ground to leaders Egham Town.

The Green Lions started off their home double-header boosted by news that Egham had only drawn 1-1 at Horley Town and GFC made the most of it, hammering Hanworth Villa 5-1.

But they slipped up yesterday, losing 2-0 against Chessington & Hook United, leaving the Lions 15 points adrift with five games in hand, but with the superior goal difference.

However, GFC coach Tony Vance, pictured, admitted yesterday that his players' fatigue levels have put promotion - either as champions or at best runner-up - a long way off.
