Vance - 'It is Mission Impossible'

MARC MCGRATH kept Guernsey FC's promotion bid on track in dramatic fashion yesterday - but Tony Vance insists it is still an 'impossible task'.

The Green Lions' new goalscoring hero, pictured, struck in the last minute to defeat Sandhurst Town 3-2, his second of the game having played a pivotal role in the 3-2 win over Molesey a day earlier.

Friday's 1-1 draw with Ash United was the weekend's sole blot after the visitors scored a last minute goal of their own, but McGrath is delighted just to be involved again.

If Egham Town win their two remaining games, they are champions, but any slip-up could let GFC back in ahead of their five games in the next seven days.

One guarantee is that if the Lions win those five matches, they will definitely be promoted as at least a best runner-up, but coach Vance is not thinking about that.

'Let's be honest, winning all five of those games is basically impossible,' he said.
