JAMES MCLAUGHLIN is revelling in the 'best win of his career', after a brilliant sprint success at the fifth and final stage of the Essor Breton in Brittany.

The annual event is the biggest stage race in the region and, as well as crossing the line first in the town of Landiviau, the Sarnian cyclist also secured the prestigious King of the Mountains crown.

After picking up the jersey for that achievement, the 22-year-old reflected on a stunning week for his team Sojasun and admits this moment has been a long time coming.

'What this win will do for my confidence and to move me a step forward in my career should be massive,' he explained.
