ON COURSE to make his Muratti Vase debut, the disappointment of missing last year's final is spurring Kieran Mahon on ahead of Saturday.

He is also ultra-confident that Guernsey can retain the famous Vase for the first time in 21 years, with what would be their first home win since 2001 against Jersey.

'In the past, the Muratti has been the one big game played all season and the occasion can bog people down a bit,' Mahon said.

'Now, because of playing regularly for Guernsey FC and a lot of those being big games, it can be treated as just another game and it is treated more like an Upton, rather than a Muratti.

'That means we can go out there and play our exciting attacking football without fear and score goals.'
